Agent-based modelling for early-stage optimization of spatial structures

چکیده

Agent-based modelling (ABM) is a complex problem-solving approach that can be employed in early-stage parametric design, and certain design applications may benefit from such bottom-up strategy. This research investigates the potential of ABM for structural optimization. A case study form-found cantilevered truss presented has doubly curved shape over regular grid, resulting individual members with different lengths across structure. It hypothesized an agent-based might generate irregular grid similar or better performance, but more uniform length elements. could useful when designing global form kit parts adaptively reusing disassembled existing structure member lengths. series simulations are conducted hyperparameters, generated designs compared to original terms performance.

Comparing Stochastic Differential Equations and Agent-Based Modelling and Simulation for Early-Stage Cancer

There is great potential to be explored regarding the use of agent-based modelling and simulation as an alternative paradigm to investigate early-stage cancer interactions with the immune system. It does not suffer from some limitations of ordinary differential equation models, such as the lack of stochasticity, representation of individual behaviours rather than aggregates and individual memor...

Guest Editorial Spatial agent-based modelling

The convergence of object-oriented approaches to data modelling within geographic information science together with increasingly fine-scale data collection approaches and discrete-event simulations has created new opportunities to build dynamic representations of geographical systems (Gimblett 2002, Brown et al. 2005). In particular, agent-based modelling has become an important representationa...

Key challenges in agent-based modelling for geo-spatial simulation

Agent-based modelling (ABM) is becoming the dominant paradigm in social simulation due primarily to a worldview that suggests that complex systems emerge from the bottom-up, are highly decentralised, and are composed of a multitude of heterogeneous objects called agents. These agents act with some purpose and their interaction, usually through time and space, generates emergent order, often at ...

Agent-based modelling environment for spatial decision support

The goal of Spatial Decision Support Systems (SDSS) is to assist decision-makers as they generate alternative solutions to a variety of semistructured geographical problems, and to evaluate these solutions with the help of applicable data and analytical models. Most existing SDSS, however, support only a limited number of decision-making environments, and are not designed to utilize web-accessi...

Agent-based modellng for spatial simulation and optimization

The term "agent" is used (and misused) increasingly to describe a broad range of computational entities. This tends to obscure the differences between radically different approaches.  Some agents performs tasks individually ... others need to work together  Some are mobile ... some static  Agents communicate via messages ... some don't communicate at all  Some learn and adapt ... others d...
